Fabian Somerville-Cotton started his city career in 1989 at Drexel Burnham Lambert as a runner on the LIFFE floor. In 1990, he joined Chase Manhattan in London as a blue button. He spent a year trading Short Sterling and Gilts before moving on to the broking side of the business. He then moved to FIMAT in 1992 where he was a Senior Broker in the UK Interest Rate Markets.
Fabian joined Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (then Kleinwort Benson) in 1994 as Deputy Floor Manager. Following the closure of open outcry trading on LIFFE in 1999 Fabian joined DrKW's Foreign Exchange business. He was responsible for developing & distributing Piranha, DrKW's proprietary online dealing system. In 2001, Fabian returned to the Listed Products Group with a mandate to lead the group's electronic trading capabilities. In May 2005, Fabian was named head of Listed Products at DrKW and in December 2005 named head of Prime Brokerage Products following the merger of DrKW's Listed Products and Prime Brokerage teams.
