K2007 International Trade Fair - No.1 for Plastics and Rubber

Date: 24 - 31 October 2007  
Location: Messe Dusseldorf, Germany

During K2007 the LME provided an opportunity for the plastics industry to learn about regional plastics price risk management tools available via the Exchange.

Visitors met LME at K2007 to:

  • Learn about the LME's regional futures and pricing for Asia, Europe and North America in polypropylene (PP) and linear low density polypropylene (LL)*
  • Understand how LME pricing, hedging and delivery can benefit plastics producers, converters and consumers
  • Understand how to manage polymer price risk and deal with price volatility by using LME services

Plastics Hedging Workshops

LME will also offer two half-day Plastics Hedging Workshops at no additional cost to visitors at K2007.

The half-day workshops helped the plastics industry to understand how hedging can help organisations to better manage their polymer price risk, and therefore better predict costs, and profits. In addition, they explored the benefits of regional contracts and additioanl prompt dates, and their implications on trading.

Who attended?

This half day workshop was designed to assist all those involved in pricing physical transactions in the plastics industry and assessing risk management tools. Among those that benefited from attending are individuals working within the following business areas:

  • Procurement
  • Finance
  • Risk management
  • Treasury
  • Sales and commercial
