This intensive one-day course is designed for people with little or no knowledge of hedge accounting, who are looking for a high level workshop on hedge accounting theory. It introduces delegates to the International Financial Reporting Standards, IAS 39 hedge accounting requirements specifically for commodity futures and options, effectiveness testing and several pre-prepared case studies of hedging for commodity price risk in the metals and plastics industry. The second part of the seminar is a practical application of the theory, using a metal risk management software application to test effectiveness or ineffectiveness of the delegate’s own commodity risk and hypothetical hedging strategies.
It is limited to 12 delegates and each delegate will have access to a laptop with an interactive risk management application for building and stress-testing their own hedging strategies.
Trainers The course will be presented by Sam Naylor and Jacqui Drew, senior managers of Deloitte’s Financial Instruments Solutions team and David Ward and David Coxell, partners of Meriman Ltd, whose risk management applications have been used by LME member firms.
