This page provides tips and information about using the LME online store.
The easiest way to find what you are looking for is to search for it. The ‘Search' box is on the left of every page, under the list of shop categories. Simply type a key word for what you are looking for into the box and click on the magnifying glass icon to start the search.
Keep it simple
Best results are often obtained if you enter just one or two key words. Try using the least common words. (Don't use words like ‘the', ‘and', ‘a', etc. which may produce many results.)
Searching is not the only way to find what your looking for – browsing the site is also an option. The main areas of the site are shown at the top of every page, on the left hand side under the title “Categories”.
Once you have chosen a product area, click on the category name to view the products in that category.
When viewing the products in your chosen category, you can view the full details of a product by clicking on “More” or the product image.
Making a purchase from the LME online store is easy and secure.
Choosing an item
When you find an item you want to purchase, click the ‘Add to Basket' button. The item will be added to your ‘Shopping Basket'. To view the contents of your shopping basket, click on “View my basket” on the left hand navigation menu.
Paying for your item(s)
When you are ready to buy, click the ‘Checkout' button in the Shopping Basket. Alternatively, you can click on the “Go to checkout” link on the left hand navigation menu.
Creating an account
The first time you make a purchase with us you will need to register and create a customer account. This account will store your name and billing/invoice address information. This only takes a couple of minutes to set up and is fully secure. When you have submitted your account registration, the store will send you an email with a link which you must click on to complete the registration process.
Confirming your item(s) and choosing your method of payment
During the checkout process we will ask you to choose your delivery method (if appropriate).
If you live in, or are visiting, London and wish to pick up your items from the LME, please select “Collect from LME” and postage costs will not be applied to your order. Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know when you wish to pick up your purchases.
If you are purchasing historical data, then your data will not be subject to postage charges as your data order will be emailed to you.
As you go through the checkout process, your selected item costs will be displayed, VAT and postage will be applied as well as any discounts that may be applicable to your purchase. You will then be required to select your method of payment. You can pay online by credit/debit card or offline by invoice. If you select credit/debit card as your chosen method, you will be transferred to Protx, our secure online payment providers, to input your card details for processing. If you opt to pay offline by invoice, then you will be able to submit payment by bank transfer or cheque. Details of offline payments are included in the invoice you will receive via email from the store on completion of the order process.
Items that are in stock, and historical data orders, are usually dispatched within 48 hours of receipt of your order.
Items are dispatched by Royal Mail for delivery in the UK and “International signed for” or “Airsure” for locations outside the UK . You can track when your item was dispatched by logging in to your LME online store account and viewing your order history.
Postal delivery usually then takes 3-5 working days.
If you haven't received your item after 7 days, please contact the LME by emailing email@example.com and we will help to track the location of your delivery.
Returns and cancellations (excluding events and educational courses)
You may cancel your order at any time prior to your order being processed by contacting the LME by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephoning +44 207 264 5555 during normal office hours. You may also withdraw from the contract at any time after the product has been dispatched and you have received our email confirming your order, but no later than 7 working days after the day after you receive the product by;
- sending the notice of cancellation by email to email@example.com ensuring that you quote your name, address and order reference number; or
- where you have already received the goods, returning the goods to LME unopened together with the original invoice. LME will refund you the purchase price of the goods.
Once LME receives notification from you that you wish to withdraw from the contract (in accordance with these terms), any sum debited to LME from your credit card in relation to your order will be re-credited to that credit card account as soon as possible, and in any event within 30 days of your order provided that the goods you wish to return are received by LME in the condition that they were in when delivered to you. You will be liable for any charges incurred in returning the goods to LME.
