Plastics market data
The LME provides daily LME plastics market data free of charge via the LME Website. Sign up for the LME same day data service here.

Real-time and delayed plastics data is also available from licensed LME market data vendors. Click here to view all LME market data vendors.

The range of plastics data published by the Exchange includes:

Daily Official and Settlement Prices

The LME publishes daily official plastics prices (both bid and offer) for both polypropylene (PP) and linear low density polyethylene (LL) for all contracts for Cash, Month 1 and Month 2. The official prices established are basis ‘open-outcry’ trading at the end of the first ring session of the day. The settlement price is the official cash seller’s price (offer) published at the end of the first ring session each day.

LCH.Clearnet uses the settlement price to settle contracts falling due. All LME prices are reported in US Dollars.

Daily Closing Prices

The LME publishes closing prices at the close of business on each business day. LCH.Clearnet uses the closing prices when determining margin requirements at the close of business for each day.

Exchange Open Interest

Exchange Open Interest (EOI) is a calculation produced by LCH.Clearnet to represent open exchange positions of LME clearing members for a particular prompt date. EOI does not take into account the positions of clients of members or non-clearing members. EOI is calculated from open positions recorded on LCH.Clearnet’s matching system. The LME reports EOI in lots for each plastics contract and by individual prompt date. EOI represents the exposure of LCH.Clearnet to clearing members.

Market Open Interest

Market Open Interest (MOI) is a calculation produced by the LME to represent open exchange positions of all members and clients for a particular prompt date. MOI is calculated from open positions reported to the LME by members. The LME reports MOI in lots for each plastics contract and by individual prompt date. MOI is an indication of the liquidity and depth of the market.

Daily Warehouse Stocks

Each business day the London Metal Exchange publishes a plastics stock report. This report provides an overview of the quantity of material currently held on warrant in LME approved warehouses. The report takes in to account all movement of stock, on and off warrant, by 1600 (London Time) on the previous business day.
