Sir Brian Bender KCB is the current Chairman of the Board for both LME Holdings Limited and the London Metal Exchange Limited.
He retired from the civil service in March 2009, having been a Permanent Secretary for nearly 10 years. His final post was at the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, and before that the Department for Trade and Industry and the Department for Environment, Food and Rurual Affairs.
Sir Brian has a BSc and a PhD in Physics from Imperial College, London. He is married and has a daughter and a son.
