Jim Coupland currently works for Standard Bank Plc where he is Managing Director - Global Head of Base Metals and Bulk Commodities. He also is a board member of Standard Reources China.
Jim joined Standard Bank in October 1995 to establish and develop the Bank's base metals business. He commenced his career at Shearson Hayden Stone in 1976, staying with the group for 17 years during which time the company were involved in many acquisitions and mergers. He became the Chairman of Lehman Commodities in 1986 where he had global responsibility for the group's commodities business (primarily base metals and bullion).
After leaving Lehman Brothers in 1993, Jim worked at Kidder Peabody as a senior vice president and in 1994 joined the board of Deutsche Sharps Pixley with responsibility for base metals.
Jim also served as a non-executive director of the London Metal Exchange from 1991 to 1993.
