Warehouse Reform 2019

The London Metal Exchange (LME) is welcoming feedback from the market following the launch of a discussion paper on warehouse reform proposals from the LME Warehousing Committee and the LME.

Discussion Paper on LME Warehouse Reform

The proposals, which are designed to enhance the efficiency of the LME warehouse network and create further opportunities for metal owners to make use of LME warranting, cover three key areas:

  1. The LME Warehouse Committee’s strategic proposals to enhance the attractiveness of LME warehousing services
  2. The Warehouse Committee’s operational proposals to make LME warehousing more efficient
  3. Additional proposals put forward by the LME to enhance market transparency

The market-wide engagement process, which follows on from LME warehouse reforms since 2013, is open until 31 May 2019 and all responses will be considered confidentially by the LME.

The LME will then consider the feedback and may advance certain proposals to a full consultation stage.
