LME Clear is delighted to announce the appointment of David Warren as Chairman of the Board, effective 20 July 2023. David will succeed Marco Strimer, who will step down as Chairman having reached the end of his term.

David has over 30 years’ experience in financial services and considerable expertise in global financial markets infrastructure and regulation, having served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Interim Chief Executive of the London Stock Exchange Group, as CFO and Senior Advisor at NASDAQ and as a Non-Executive Director of LCH Group Holdings Ltd.

Outgoing Chair of the LME Clear Board, Marco Strimer, will stay on as a director until the end of the year to support David’s transition into the role.

Commenting on his appointment, David Warren said: “I’m delighted to be joining LME Clear as Chairman of the Board. I look forward to working closely with my fellow board directors and LME Clear senior management, leveraging my knowledge and experience in market infrastructure to support the business. While recent years have presented challenges for the metals industry as a whole and for LME Clear, I believe that LME Clear is a vital and critical component of the industry and the market and that it will play a key role in supporting its global customers in the years ahead.”

Marco joined the Board at the inception of LME Clear in 2013 and has strongly influenced the successful development and management of the business. We are very grateful for his strong stewardship, especially over the last year and are delighted he will stay on the LME Clear Board until December 2023 to ensure a smooth handover to David Warren. Marco Strimer, outgoing Chairman of the LME Clear Board said: “It’s been a privilege to chair the LME Clear Board over the last three years, and to have served as an Independent Non-Executive Director for six years prior to that. I have no doubt that David will excel in this role given his track record of growth and his vast experience of capital markets, risk management and transformation, and I look forward to supporting him over the coming months as he transitions into the role.”

    David Warren is a retired FTSE 30 Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who is synonymous with the growth and transformation of two technology-enabled financial services business: NASDAQ and the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG). An American national based in London, he retired as CFO of the LSEG in November 2020 having supported the business through a period of significant transformation and growth. Previously, he played a central role in the growth and development of NASDAQ, taking it from a mutually owned US equity exchange and transforming it into a public global financial markets infrastructure company in his 11 years with the organisation. David also provides mentoring to current executives through J&A Mentoring and his own network. He was previously Non-Executive Director and Member of the Audit Committee of LCH Group and its UK-based clearing house LCH Ltd.
