LME Metals Seminar Agenda 2026

Bonnie Y Chan was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited on 1 March 2024.

Ms Chan brings more than 30 years of global capital markets leadership and expertise. She has played a leading role in supporting the transformation of Hong Kong’s listed market and infrastructure, enhancing market quality, attractiveness, and efficiency, and helping position HKEX as a leading global exchange group.

Ms Chan has held leadership roles in legal and financial services with Asia-Pacific and global responsibilities. Before becoming CEO, Ms Chan was HKEX’s Co-Chief Operating Officer, where she oversaw the Group’s key operational and strategic functions. Ms Chan first joined HKEX as Head of IPO Transactions in 2007 from Morgan Stanley, where she spent four years leading the legal function for the investment bank’s Asia capital markets business. She rejoined HKEX in 2020 as Head of Listing, after serving as a partner at international law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell focusing on capital markets between 2010 and 2019.

Ms Chan is a frequent contributor to the World Economic Forum and is a member of the Forum’s Centre for Financial and Monetary Systems Advisory Council.

In Hong Kong, Ms Chan served as a member of the Financial Services Development Council between 2015 and 2018, and was a member of its Board of Directors between 2019 and 2020. She was also a member of the Standing Committee of Company Law Reform and the Disciplinary Panel of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Ms Chan was recognised as one of the World Federation of Exchanges’ Women Leaders between 2021 and 2023. She was also recognised among IFLR1000’s Asia Best Lawyers in 2019 and was named The American Lawyer’s Dealmaker of the Year in 2018.

Ms Chan holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Hong Kong and a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School. She is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong and an attorney at law in New York State.

Shaun Usmar joined Vale Base Metals in October, 2024, as CEO, focused on driving growth and unlocking the full value of the Vale Base Metals business. He has overseen the transformation of VBM’s operations, finances and culture, enhancing safety, increasing production, reducing costs and setting the stage for growth. He was recognized as 2025 ‘Mining Leader of the Year’ by Resourcing Tomorrow.

Shaun is an international mining executive with over 30 years of global experience in operational, financial, and executive leadership roles across some of the world’s largest mining companies. He has served in senior leadership roles at Barrick Gold, Xstrata, BHP Billiton, and most recently was the founder and CEO of Triple Flag Precious Metals, a role that he held for eight years. He has served as a director on several boards, including Peabody Energy, Triple Flag and the World Gold Council, and is currently a non-executive director of Alamos Gold. Since 2010, Shaun has worked as a senior volunteer with Make-A-Wish Canada, serving as National Board Chair until early 2026. His involvement reflects a long-standing passion for making a meaningful impact on the lives of children facing critical illnesses.

Shaun holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Metallurgy and Materials from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa, and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Saad Rahim is the Chief Economist for Trafigura, one of the world’s largest traders of oil, metals and other commodities.  He is responsible for the company’s views on commodity markets and macroeconomics.

Prior to joining Trafigura, he was the Chief Economist at BG Group (now Shell), a major integrated oil and gas company, and prior to that Deputy Chief Economist at Chevron Corporation.  Before joining Chevron, Mr. Rahim was an international energy advisor with PFC Energy (now part of S&P Global). 

Mr. Rahim received BA degrees in Economics and Political Science from Stanford University, and attended the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) for advanced degree work in Economics and Global Energy.

Iván joined Antofagasta plc in 2015 and become CEO in 2016.

Iván holds a Master of Science degree from the London School of Economics. He graduated as an Engineer from the Adolfo Ibañez Business School at Universidad Federico Santa María in Chile. Under his leadership, the company has signbificantly reduced its use of continental water, moved to use only renewables for its mining operations, and invested over $6 billion in growth projects to increase copper production by 30% in the medium term. 

Iván has been in the natural resource industries for most of his professional life. He started working in the Oil & Gas Industry, working for the Royal Dutch Shell Group, with positions in Latin America, the US and the UK. He then moved into Mining and Metals where he has spent over 20 years. Prior to joining Antofagasta Minerals, he held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Codelco, the Chile State owned company and the largest copper producer in the world. Before this, at BHP Billiton, he held several positions in the Base Metals division, including amongst these Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Operations.  

Antofagasta plc is a Chile-based company listed on the London Stock Exchange and a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.  Antofagasta plc is one of the 10 largest global copper producers in the world. Currently, it operates four copper mines situated in Chile: Los Pelambres, Centinela, Antucoya and Zaldívar. Antofagasta's exploration activities include prospects in the Americas.  It also holds a 19% stake in Peruvian mining company Buenaventura.

Alongside the Mining group, Antofagasta also runs a Transport division comprising of a railway company dedicated to serving the mining industry in northern Chile.

Matthew Chamberlain is the CEO of the London Metal Exchange and a member of the Management Committee of HKEX Group.

Matthew joined the LME in 2012, having advised HKEX on the acquisition of the LME while at UBS. He started his career at Citibank, and holds an MA from Trinity College, Cambridge.

Andrea Hotter is the Head of Editorial & Markets Intelligence at Commodity Pricing & Analysis Ltd (CPAL), an independent price reporting and market analysis provider dedicated to the global metals market. She has 30 years of experience covering global commodities, with a focus on industrial metals, mining and critical minerals, and the geopolitical, economic and market forces shaping these sectors.

Prior to CPAL, Andrea was the Special Correspondent at Fastmarkets, where she hosted the ‘Fast Forward’ podcast. Previously, she was Assistant Managing Editor at Dow Jones Newswires on its energy and commodities desk in London. Andrea has also worked for other news organizations including Bridge News and Metal Bulletin, and was a trader at Mitsui Bussan Commodities.

Andrea is also a Director on the board of The Copper Club, an organization that fosters the interests of the copper industry, and founder and a Director on the board of The Commodities Club, an organization elevating women in the critical minerals sector in North and South America.

Jorge Vazquez began his career as an aluminum industry analyst in 1995. In 2007, he founded HARBOR Aluminum and became Managing Director of Market Intelligence and Industry Consulting.

Jorge is advisor to the world’s largest aluminum upstream and downstream companies on topics related to aluminum market intelligence, trade, prices, procurement/marketing strategy, and industry competitiveness.

He has become the world’s most sought-after aluminum expert for legal disputes, arbitration cases, and government hearings. Mr. Vazquez has been advisor to the U.S. Senate (Carl Levin and John McCain), the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. International Trade Commission, and the Canadian Trade Tribunal on matters related to the aluminum industry.

Jorge is the only aluminum market expert that has ever been invited to testify on matters related to the aluminum market before the U.S. Senate.

Graeme is Head of Metals and Minerals Analysis for Trafigura, one of the world's leading independent commodities groups. Since joining Trafigura in 2015, he has led the company's global metals and minerals research function, covering base metals, battery materials, and bulk commodities.

With 20 years' experience in commodity markets, Graeme specialises in understanding how economic, geopolitical and policy developments shape commodity markets and the metals and mining industry.

Prior to joining Trafigura, Graeme led China commodity research at Macquarie, following earlier research roles covering the Asian steel and raw materials markets.

Graeme holds BA (Hons) degrees in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of York.

Natalie Scott-Gray is a Senior Metals Analyst in the Market Intelligence department of StoneX Financial Ltd.

Based in the London office, she complements the existing StoneX commodity research presence by specialising in the LME and battery material metals markets, and has built up a regular following across clients, the press and in the wider market space. Prior to StoneX, Natalie was a Senior Metals Markets Analyst in the GFMS team at Refinitv.

She specialised in precious metals activity among central banks and international financial institutions, in addition to following demand for bullion both in the paper and physical investment markets. Natalie covered precious metal fundamentals across Europe, including analysis on the automotive markets, along with the chemical and petrochemical sectors.

She was also the key analyst covering materials used in rechargeable batteries, predominately utilised in both the automotive and power grid sectors. Prior to GFMS, Natalie was an oil and gas upstream analyst. She holds a Masters Degree in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh.

Amy Gower (née Sergeant) leads the Metals and Mining Commodity Strategy team at Morgan Stanley.

The team publishes research on market developments and on the outlook for base metals, bulk commodities, precious metals and battery metals.

Amy joined Morgan Stanley in 2013, starting in the Commodities division in Sales and Trading. She joined the Oil Research team in June 2017, looking at  crude oil and refined products markets.

She moved over to cover metals markets in 2021 and has a particular focus on base metals and battery metals. Amy graduated from the University of Leeds with a BA in French and Management and is a CFA Charterholder.

Tom Langston is a Senior Market Analyst at the International Tin Association (ITA), the global authority on tin.

ITA represents more than two-thirds of global tin production and works closely with tin users through teams focused on markets, sustainability and technology.

Tom leads the Association's market intelligence function, overseeing its data-driven analysis and reporting. Prior to joining ITA in 2023, he worked in financial services at firms including Goldman Sachs and UBS. Tom holds a BSc (Hons) in Geology from the University of Bristol.

Tamara Thorne is a Senior Principal Analyst at S&P Global Energy, based in London. Tamara leads coverage of the European steel and iron ore markets, delivering supply and demand analysis and price forecasts for ferrous markets that help clients to understand evolving dynamics and make informed decisions. She regularly presents at S&P Global Energy Breakfast Briefings and webinars.  

Tamara brings deep expertise in metals markets built across nearly a decade of roles spanning precious and ferrous metals. Before joining S&P Global Energy, she led iron ore and steel market coverage at Refinitiv (LSEG), having rejoined the organization in 2019 after an earlier tenure with the GFMS precious metals research team at Thomson Reuters. Between those roles she served at INTL FCStone (StoneX), where her focus encompassed precious metals risk and compliance and the analysis of mining projects across South America, the Middle East, and Central Asia.

Tamara holds an MSc in Mining Engineering, from the Camborne School of Mines and an MA in International Relations, both from the University of Exeter, UK. 

Viral Shah is a Strategic Markets Editor at Fastmarkets, where he focuses on battery raw materials such as lithium and cobalt, since rejoining in 2025.

Viral specialises in developing new price assessments, as well as advocating for the indexation & physical adoption of existing benchmarks.

He previously worked at Platts, part of S&P Global, over 2019-2025, initially leading coverage of key ferrous benchmarks, and later managing the Low Carbon and Base Metals EMEA price reporting team. Viral started his price reporting career at Fastmarkets in 2015. In his first stint, he covered stainless steel & scrap and carbon long steel markets. 

He holds a financial journalism MA from City University London and Aarhus University, Denmark, as well as a BA in English Literature from the University of Warwick.

Mr. Frank Ha obtained a master degree in core business management from the MCI Management Center Innsbruck, Austria in 2007.

He is also an MBA/EMBA from the Chinese University of Hong Kong Business School and a master in engineering management from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia.

Mr. Ha is currently a PhD candidate in enterprise management at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in China since 2021.

Prior to joining the Group, Mr. Ha worked at Olip Italia S.p.A., Swarovski (Austria) and Steyr Motors GmbH.

Mr. Ha was appointed as a chief executive officer and an executive Director of the Company in 2021. He is primarily responsible for the overall and day-to-day management of the Company.

Adam is a Senior Quantitative Researcher at GreshamQuant where he works on market selection and strategy development for ACAR, a systematic strategy trading alternative commodities. He previously covered systematic strategies at Fulcrum and worked in QIS at Macquarie. Prior to jumping ship for the investment industry, his first career in the maritime industry was also commodity-adjacent where he worked as a research naval architect on ice-bound shipping in the Netherlands, Norway, and Finland and on oil and gas projects in Brazil. Adam holds a PhD in mathematics from the University of Exeter where his thesis was on high-performance computing for weather and climate forecasting, an MSc in Mathematical Modelling from the University of Limerick, and a BEng in Ocean and Naval Architectural Engineering from the Memorial University of Newfoundland. He grew up in Placentia Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador next to a fish plant, an oil refinery, and a nickel processing plant and lives in North London with his family.

陈晔上海期货交易所商品一部总监Mr. CHEN YEShanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE), Managing Director of CommoditiesFutures Department I陈晔先生，博士、高级工程师，现任上海期货交易所商品一部总监。长期从事大宗商品衍生品的上市、研发、推广等工作。Mr. Chen YE is currently Managing Director of Commodities FuturesDepartment I at Shanghai Futures Exchange. Mr. Chen holds a Ph.D. andis a Senior Engineer. He has long been engaged in the listing, research,development and promotion of commodity derivatives.

Alberto Xodo, Vice President Strategic Initiatives & Partnerships, at the LME, has worked on various strategic initiatives for the Exchange, including the launch of new contracts, the development of its steel futures market and the launch of the Registered Intermediating Broker membership category.

He joined the London Metal Exchange in December 2014 and has been a member of the LME Nickel Committee and of the LME Steel Committee since 2015. In 2024 Alberto was appointed to sit on the Executive Committee of the International Steel Trade Association (ISTA). Previously, he was working in the Transaction Services team of PwC with focus on strategy consulting and commercial due diligence for the Financial Services industry.

Anant Jatia is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Greenland Investment Management, a systematic commodity manager overseeing more than $1 billion in assets. 

An industry veteran with over 18 years of quantitative investing experience, Anant previously co-founded Forefront Capital Management, India's first onshore hedge fund, which was successfully acquired by Edelweiss Financial Services. 

Earlier in his career, he served as a portfolio manager on the Global Stock Selection team at AQR Capital, where he managed quantitative global equity portfolios. 

Anant holds a B.S. in Economics and a B.S.E. in Computer Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating from the prestigious Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology (M&T) at the Wharton School.  He also serves as an active member of the London Metal Exchange (LME) Copper Committee.

Lei Yao is Managing Director and Head of Futures, UK & Europe at CITIC CLSA. Based in London, he is responsible for the development of the firm’s futures and commodities business across the region, including market access, clearing and client solutions. He works closely with institutional and corporate clients across China, Asia and Europe, with a particular focus on strengthening connectivity between Chinese and international commodity markets.

Dom has 38 years Capital Markets experience with a strong reputation in Electronic Trading in the Fixed Income Markets.  He started as a Corporate Bond trader and after 15 years of working in London, New York and Tokyo, he moved into Electronic Trading in 2001 as a key figure in the launch of MarketAxess in Europe.

Dom then held several senior Electronic Markets roles at Barclays, RBC and Deutsche Bank, working closely with trading venues, data vendors and regulators to deliver services to clients of the banks.

In 2020 Dom returned to London after 4 years with Bank of New York to set up an independent advisory firm that has helped Banks, Trading Venues and Fintech companies with their Digitalisation strategies.  Dom joined the FCA in January 2024 with a focus on increasing the FCA’s proficiencies in FICC markets, supporting the development of market monitoring in these areas, as well as building further data and technology capabilities.

Bashar Mohamadieh is General Manager of CPAL, where he leads the development of a new independent price reporting and market analysis business for global metals markets.

He has more than 20 years of leadership experience across energy, metals, natural resources and industrial markets, with a background in commercial strategy, business growth, market development and product commercialisation. Before joining CPAL, he held senior leadership roles at Wood Mackenzie, including Global Head of Sales for Commodities

Dr. Frank Jackel is Co-Founder and Managing Director of Metalshub, the leading digital trading platform for raw materials.

Prior to Metalshub he was Global Head of Marketing & Sales at CMOC and Head of Sales at Anglo American. Frank started his career in R&D in the metals industry and later joined The Boston Consulting Group, where he led major strategy projects in the metals & mining industry.

He holds a Master degree and a PhD in Material Science from RWTH Aachen University, Germany.

Martim Facada is Managing Director, Lithium Trading at Traxys, with a career spanning the full lithium value chain — from physical and paper brokerage at SCB Group, where he helped facilitate the first-ever exchange-traded lithium futures trade, to price reporting and market analysis roles at Fastmarkets and Asian Metal covering lithium and cobalt markets.

Born in Lisbon, Portugal, Martim holds a degree in Political Science and International Relations from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and an MA in International Political Economy from King's College London (2015).

Peter Hannah is Global Pricing & Valuation Director at Albemarle, where he leads commercial pricing strategy across the company's lithium business.

Based in London, he joined Albemarle in 2023 after leading index development at Fastmarkets.

Peter's career has spanned the commodity spectrum, helping drive the evolution of pricing mechanisms, liquidity, and market transparency across industries ranging from iron ore and base metals to battery materials and lithium.

He combines this commercial experience with a professional and academic background in mining geology, holding degrees from the University of Bristol and the Camborne School of Mines.

Philip Adcock is Head of Strategy, Transformation & Programmes at Mclaren Automotive, one of the worlds leading high performance and luxury car brands.

He has more than 20 years of leadership experience across automotive and tech industries, with a background in commercial strategy, turnaround and product development. Before joining Mclaren, he held senior leadership roles at Arrival and Jaguar Land Rover. Phil leads on all commercial aspects of Mclaren's raw material strategy.
