Bonnie Y Chan was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited on 1 March 2024.

Ms Chan brings more than 30 years of global capital markets leadership and expertise. She has played a leading role in supporting the transformation of Hong Kong’s listed market and infrastructure, enhancing market quality, attractiveness, and efficiency, and helping position HKEX as a leading global exchange group.

Ms Chan has held leadership roles in legal and financial services with Asia-Pacific and global responsibilities. Before becoming CEO, Ms Chan was HKEX’s Co-Chief Operating Officer, where she oversaw the Group’s key operational and strategic functions. Ms Chan first joined HKEX as Head of IPO Transactions in 2007 from Morgan Stanley, where she spent four years leading the legal function for the investment bank’s Asia capital markets business. She rejoined HKEX in 2020 as Head of Listing, after serving as a partner at international law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell focusing on capital markets between 2010 and 2019.

Ms Chan is a frequent contributor to the World Economic Forum and is a member of the Forum’s Centre for Financial and Monetary Systems Advisory Council.

In Hong Kong, Ms Chan served as a member of the Financial Services Development Council between 2015 and 2018, and was a member of its Board of Directors between 2019 and 2020. She was also a member of the Standing Committee of Company Law Reform and the Disciplinary Panel of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Ms Chan was recognised as one of the World Federation of Exchanges’ Women Leaders between 2021 and 2023. She was also recognised among IFLR1000’s Asia Best Lawyers in 2019 and was named The American Lawyer’s Dealmaker of the Year in 2018.

Ms Chan holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Hong Kong and a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School. She is admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong and an attorney at law in New York State.

Shaun Usmar joined Vale Base Metals in October, 2024, as CEO, focused on driving growth and unlocking the full value of the Vale Base Metals business. He has overseen the transformation of VBM’s operations, finances and culture, enhancing safety, increasing production, reducing costs and setting the stage for growth. He was recognized as 2025 ‘Mining Leader of the Year’ by Resourcing Tomorrow.

Shaun is an international mining executive with over 30 years of global experience in operational, financial, and executive leadership roles across some of the world’s largest mining companies. He has served in senior leadership roles at Barrick Gold, Xstrata, BHP Billiton, and most recently was the founder and CEO of Triple Flag Precious Metals, a role that he held for eight years. He has served as a director on several boards, including Peabody Energy, Triple Flag and the World Gold Council, and is currently a non-executive director of Alamos Gold. Since 2010, Shaun has worked as a senior volunteer with Make-A-Wish Canada, serving as National Board Chair until early 2026. His involvement reflects a long-standing passion for making a meaningful impact on the lives of children facing critical illnesses.

Shaun holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Metallurgy and Materials from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa, and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Andrea Hotter is the New York-based Special Correspondent at Fastmarkets.

Previously, she was the Assistant Managing Editor at Dow Jones Newswires on its energy and commodities desk in London, where she was responsible for markets and equities coverage of metals, softs, grains and energy for EMEA.

Prior to this, Andrea was on the metals desk for Mitsui Bussan Commodities in London, and has been a Senior Correspondent for Bridge News.

Amy Gower (née Sergeant) leads the Metals and Mining Commodity Strategy team at Morgan Stanley.

The team publishes research on market developments and on the outlook for base metals, bulk commodities, precious metals and battery metals.

Amy joined Morgan Stanley in 2013, starting in the Commodities division in Sales and Trading. She joined the Oil Research team in June 2017, looking at  crude oil and refined products markets.

She moved over to cover metals markets in 2021 and has a particular focus on base metals and battery metals. Amy graduated from the University of Leeds with a BA in French and Management and is a CFA Charterholder.

Tom Langston is Senior Market Analyst at the International Tin Association; he joined in September 2023 and is based in London.

Tom holds a degree in Geology from the University of Bristol and before joining ITA, he worked in financial services as a business analyst and capital markets consultant across several top investment banks including Goldman Sachs, Barclays, and UBS.

He is responsible for delivering all the ITA markets team’s analysis, reports, and publications. 

Natalie Scott-Gray is a Senior Metals Analyst in the Market Intelligence department of StoneX Financial Ltd.

Based in the London office, she complements the existing StoneX commodity research presence by specialising in the LME and battery material metals markets, and has built up a regular following across clients, the press and in the wider market space. Prior to StoneX, Natalie was a Senior Metals Markets Analyst in the GFMS team at Refinitv.

She specialised in precious metals activity among central banks and international financial institutions, in addition to following demand for bullion both in the paper and physical investment markets. Natalie covered precious metal fundamentals across Europe, including analysis on the automotive markets, along with the chemical and petrochemical sectors.

She was also the key analyst covering materials used in rechargeable batteries, predominately utilised in both the automotive and power grid sectors. Prior to GFMS, Natalie was an oil and gas upstream analyst. She holds a Masters Degree in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh.

Jorge Vazquez began his career as an aluminum industry analyst in 1995. In 2007, he founded HARBOR Aluminum and became Managing Director of Market Intelligence and Industry Consulting.

Jorge is advisor to the world’s largest aluminum upstream and downstream companies on topics related to aluminum market intelligence, trade, prices, procurement/marketing strategy, and industry competitiveness.

He has become the world’s most sought-after aluminum expert for legal disputes, arbitration cases, and government hearings. Mr. Vazquez has been advisor to the U.S. Senate (Carl Levin and John McCain), the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. International Trade Commission, and the Canadian Trade Tribunal on matters related to the aluminum industry.

Jorge is the only aluminum market expert that has ever been invited to testify on matters related to the aluminum market before the U.S. Senate.
