The past year marked a major step forward. Los Azules secured its environmental approval for construction and operation, became the first copper project in Argentina to receive full approval under the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI), completed its Feasibility Study, and entered into a collaboration agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group. These milestones provide a strong technical, regulatory, and institutional foundation for the project’s next stage.
The 2025 Feasibility Study outlines a 21-year mine life, with average production of approximately 148,200 tonnes of copper per year and 204,800 tonnes annually during the first five years. Los Azules is designed to produce 99.99% pure LME Grade A copper cathodes directly in Argentina, using renewable power, significantly less water than conventional milling, and no conventional tailings dam.
As global copper demand expands with electrification, energy infrastructure, digitalization, and the energy transition, Los Azules represents an opportunity for Argentina to transform its world-class mineral resources into refined copper production, exports, investment, and long-term regional development.
